[ CLOUDCROFT, NEW MEXICO ][ 2026 - 2027 SEASON ][ limited registration ]2026-2027 Guided Elk Hunts
A mountain immersion and guided hunt experience designed for those seeking clarity, not escape.
The Experience
Level 7 High Terrain will host immersive elk hunting experiences in the mountains surrounding Cloudcroft, New Mexico throughout the 2026/27 season.
This is not a guided resort hunt or a packaged outdoor retreat. Participants step directly into the rhythm of mountain life — learning movement, tracking, terrain awareness, hunting strategy, ethical field practices, and full animal processing alongside experienced hunters, wilderness professionals, and High Terrain facilitators.
The purpose is simple: reconnect individuals to themselves through the reality of the natural world.
Over the course of the experience, participants will move through physically and mentally demanding terrain while confronting discomfort, uncertainty, silence, fatigue, and the constant requirement to remain present. Days begin before sunrise and end back at the lodge after long hours in the field, around fire, conversation, and reflection.
Participants will operate from our private lodge, creating a grounded operational base for recovery, preparation, and community. For those seeking a more rugged experience, limited wall tent accommodations may be available by request.
Registration is intentionally limited to preserve the integrity of the hunt, the land, and the experience itself.
[ the setting ]The wilderness has a way of removing distraction. In the mountains, there is no performance to maintain, no noise to hide behind, and no separation between action and consequence. Participants are placed into an environment that demands awareness, patience, adaptability, and honesty with self.
The mountain does not care who someone pretends to be. It only responds to presence. Every movement in the field becomes an opportunity to reconnect with instinct, responsibility, discipline, and stillness.
[ the objective ]To create an environment where individuals can reconnect with clarity, responsibility, and presence through immersion in the mountains.
Every segment of the experience is designed to strip away distraction and return participants to direct engagement with the environment, the team, and themselves. The lessons are not delivered through lecture. They emerge through movement, silence, challenge, observation, responsibility, and the honest work required by the hunt itself.
Participants leave with more than hunting knowledge. They leave with a deeper understanding of how they respond to pressure, discomfort, uncertainty, stillness, and responsibility.
The mountain becomes the mirror.
The environment becomes the teacher.
What remains is who you are without distraction.
[ THE STANDARDS ]Participants will operate within a safe, professionally managed hunting environment with clear expectations and structured facilitation throughout the experience. Mixed experience levels are expected.
We model responsibility at all times — toward wildlife, land, equipment, team, and self.
This is a physically active and mentally demanding environment requiring humility, discipline, awareness, and active participation.
Ethical hunting practices and land stewardship are foundational to every aspect of the experience. Every harvested animal is treated with respect and full utilization practices.
[ the FINE PRINT ]Archery and Rifle Bull Elk hunts are available during September and October. Rifle Cow Elk hunts are available from December through February on select dates.
Availability is intentionally limited to preserve the quality of the experience and the integrity of the environment. Inquire directly for current bookings and seasonal openings.
Each participant is guided through the full processing of their harvested animal and leaves with their meat prepared for transport and freezer storage.

“Darin at Level 7 High Terrain provided me with an exceptional and truly memorable elk hunting experience. Every step of the experience from the initial paperwork, to the successful and safe hunt, through saying goodbye, was very professional, personalized and warm.
Darin is a masterfully experienced hunting guide and his professional background as a US armed forces special operator shines through to provide High Terrain’s clients with a unique and premium experience that extends way beyond the hunt. I came away with more inspiration, introspection and a wholesome sense of personal growth. I can’t recommend this enough to anyone seeking a premium and successful elk hunting experience on beautiful public land. In a word, just awesome.”
